ADA Releases Statement on Denture Adhesives

Filed March 2nd, 2010 meg

The American Dental Association has issued a statement on the use of zinc in denture adhesives.

In the report, the group discusses the possible association between excessive use of zinc-containing denture creams and neurological and hematological problems.

The incidence of zinc-related issues is seen by the ADA as related to the excessive use of zinc-containing denture adhesives by those with ill-fitting dentures.

The ADA advises denture wearers to see their dentist if their dentures do not fit well or if they have questions about the use of dental cream.
